University of Tennessee women's basketball coach Pat Summitt Expects a lot from her players, but the rewards are worth it. Pat's teams regularly play in national tournaments and have won numerous NCAA championship titles. Her coaching statistics, a winning average of .808, places Pat second in victories among playing coaches and fifth among all coaches in the history of men's and women's basketball. Setting a new precedent for excellence, Pat coached the 1984 Olympic team that was the first American team to win a gold medal in basketball. Pat herself played for the U.S. Olympic team that won a silver medal in 1976,'the first time in history women's basketball was played at the Olympics. Pat's teams have played in the NCAA Final Four games over a dozen times.
